My Story
Hello! Thank you for stopping by!

My name is Jasmin (also known as Jaslee!). I'm a Deaf graphic designer and an Auslan trainer and have been signing since age 3.
Here in Auslanity website, you'll find a broad selection of fun Auslan resources and products you can purchase! I'm truly thankful for your help in building up the Deaf Ecosystem and for supporting me, so thank you!

The main reason why I launched this business was because as an Auslan trainer I have noticed there were few resources for Auslan available at the time, I also want a chance to achieve and own a small business! Additionally, I wanted people to be able to acquire custom items like the popular Deaf Proud and Deaf Ally tee/hoodies. I'm open to suggestions for other products, so I'll make sure to create them if possible as I love designing.

For those of you unfamiliar with Auslan, it is Australia's very own sign language. It has a rich and esteemed history within the Deaf community and its use continues to rise in popularity amongst deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing individuals. Auslan is a dynamic language employed by deaf and hard-of-hearing people and those associated with them, such as family members, educators, and interpreters.

Auslan is comprised of different signs that, when joined together, create sentences and evoke feelings. Each sign has one or more hand shapes positioned either on the body or in the air. The sign's meaning is also accompanied by facial expressions and other body movements. While Auslan has several similarities to British Sign Language, it differs in terms of its construction, the signs utilized, and the words employed - this makes it exclusive to Australia.

If you would like to learn more about Auslan, there are multiple ways to do so. This includes free online tutorials and classes provided through local organisations and universities. Whether you want to communicate with a Deaf acquaintance or simply want to experience a new language - learning Auslan could be a new thrilling journey!
